Booking your headshot session can feel exciting, but it's completely normal to feel a little nervous too.

One of the first things most clients say to me is, "I'm not very good in front of the camera."

The good news is, you don't need to be.

My job isn't just to take your photograph. It's to guide you through the entire session so you feel relaxed, confident and leave with headshots that genuinely represent you.

Before your session

Before we even pick up the camera, we'll have a chat about what you need from your headshots.

Whether you're graduating drama school, updating your Spotlight profile or refreshing your portfolio, we'll discuss your goals, your casting range and the types of roles you're hoping to be seen for.

We'll also talk through your outfit choices and decide on the looks we want to create during the session.

During the shoot

There's no pressure to know how to pose.

I'll guide you throughout the session with small adjustments to posture, expression and body position, while keeping everything feeling natural.

We'll take our time, review images as we go and make changes where needed. Sometimes the best photographs happen once you've stopped thinking about the camera altogether.

Creating variety

Throughout the session we'll create a range of images using different outfits, backgrounds and lighting styles where appropriate.

The aim isn't to create completely different versions of you, it's to build a collection of headshots that reflect different aspects of your casting while staying authentic.

Choosing your images

After the session, you'll receive a private online gallery where you can take your time choosing your favourite images.

If you're finding it difficult to decide, I'm always happy to offer guidance. Choosing the right headshots is just as important as taking them, and I'll help you select images that best represent you and your casting.

After you've chosen

Once you've made your selections, each chosen image is professionally retouched.

The retouching is always subtle. The aim isn't to change how you look, it's simply to present you at your best while keeping your headshots natural and believable.

Final thoughts

Every actor is different, and every session is different too.

Some people arrive full of confidence, while others tell me they hate having their photograph taken. Both are completely normal.

My goal is to create a relaxed environment where you can stop worrying about the camera and focus on being yourself.

That's usually when the best headshots happen.
